Leapmotor recently announced that the Leapmotor C10 has officially begun local assembly at the Gurun plant in Kedah, Malaysia, marking a major step in the establishment of Leapmotor’s overseas manufacturing system and a new phase in its Southeast Asian market development. For Leapmotor, the shift from whole-vehicle export to local production is a critical milestone in its overseas strategy, enabling better adaptation to local market needs, lower costs and faster delivery to strengthen its competitive edge in Southeast Asia.

The Gurun plant operates a full vehicle manufacturing system with strict quality control standards to ensure consistent production quality of Leapmotor models. According to Leapmotor’s roadmap, following the C10’s production launch, the B10 model will also be gradually localized at the plant to expand its Southeast Asian product lineup. Moving from single-model exports to local plant construction and multi-model deployment, Leapmotor is shifting from shallow market entry to deep global presence, with its overseas competitiveness set to rise as local production scales up.
