BMW i Ventures Launches $300M Fund to Reshape Auto Industry with AI
BMW Group’s venture capital arm BMW i Ventures recently unveiled a new $300 million fund, designed to identify and back innovative teams redefining the future of mobility. With the new addition, BMW i Ventures’ total assets under management will reach $1.1 billion. For BMW, the investment serves beyond financial returns: it will bring in cutting-edge external technologies to strengthen in-house R&D, connect the entire industry value chain, and build an open, collaborative innovation ecosystem, with AI as the core driver of automotive transformation.

In China, BMW is also rolling out its “360° Full-Chain AI Strategy” to upgrade local operations with intelligence. On the production side, an AI quality inspection system independently developed by its Shenyang plant team has earned national recognition. For supply chains, the custom-built AIconic system drives digital transformation in procurement decisions. On the product front, next-generation models will feature a new AI-powered smart cockpit to elevate digital luxury experiences, while customer services partner with Volcano Engine to optimize a user-centric digital ecosystem.
