On June 24, Lei Jun, founder, chairman and CEO of Xiaomi, announced via Weibo that the Xiaomi YU7 GT has claimed the first-ever autonomous driving lap record at Zhejiang International Circuit with a time of 1:49.434. The milestone comes just two days after the same model set the world’s first autonomous driving lap record at the Nürburgring Nordschleife. After testing the limits of its intelligent driving system on Europe’s iconic track, Xiaomi quickly brought the same capability to a domestic circuit, delivering a tangible answer to questions over whether autonomous technology can perform on professional race tracks.

Launched on May 21 at a price of 389,900 yuan, the Xiaomi YU7 GT is a high-performance all-electric model with a dual-motor setup. It delivers a CLTC range of 705 km and a top speed of 300 km/h, already boasting strong fundamental mechanical credentials. The back-to-back records on two renowned circuits are more than a marketing showcase—they prove the precision and stability of Xiaomi’s autonomous driving system under extreme conditions, pushing the competitive boundary of intelligent driving into professional racing.
