Chery has partnered with Japan’s AUTOBACS SEVEN and others to establish a joint venture for selling Chinese‑built EVs in Japan. The JV will launch its own EV brand through EMT in Yokohama, staffed with ex‑Honda and Mazda engineers for Japan‑specific development.

The first pure EV is scheduled for delivery in 2027, featuring advanced ADAS and targeting affordable pricing, to be built at Yueda’s plant in China. The JV plans four models by 2029 and may localize production in Japan after 2030, supported by hundreds of sales and service outlets.
