FAW-Volkswagen has published spy shots of the first ID.AURA model, built on the new CEA electrical architecture. It will debut on April 21, 2026 and launch in the second half of the year. Though heavily camouflaged, it shows a boxy headlight design, a sleek crossover profile, and a roomy cabin as a midsize SUV.

As Volkswagen’s first BEV SUV with LiDAR, it features a high-end ADAS system developed by Corechips (Volkswagen-Horizon Robotics joint venture) tailored for Chinese roads. Co-developed with XPeng, the CEA architecture reduces ECUs and wiring, improving stability and response speed. The model packs new intelligence, EV tech, and design DNA for Volkswagen’s electrification push.
