BMW Neue Klasse i3 Global Debut with 800V Tech & 900km Range
On March 18, the all-new BMW Neue Klasse i3 made its global debut. As the first sedan built on BMW’s Neue Klasse platform, the new model features a brand-new design language, is equipped with 800V high-voltage technology, and delivers a WLTP range of up to 900 kilometers. BMW confirmed the model will make its first appearance in China at the upcoming Beijing Auto Show.

For exterior design, the new car completely reinterprets the brand’s classic design language. The iconic double-kidney grille no longer serves for air intake, and is upgraded to a closed structure with a luminous outline. The light strip wraps around the grille edge and connects seamlessly with the headlights on both sides, forming a highly recognizable "glowing double kidney" when lit, retaining BMW’s family heritage while highlighting the tech attributes of a pure electric model. The interior is fitted with BMW’s Neue Klasse panoramic intelligent cockpit, debuting the Panoramic iDrive head-up display. Using ultra-short-range projection technology, it forms a nearly 40-inch 4K projection image on the windshield with a contrast ratio of 100000:1; paired with a nano-coated windshield, its P-light reflectivity is twice the industry average, ensuring clear display of navigation and vehicle status even with polarized sunglasses, with an imaging distance of 4 to 9 meters.
For power, the globally debuted BMW i3 50 xDrive adopts new-generation electric drive technology with 800V high-voltage support, using an electrically excited synchronous motor on the rear axle and an induction asynchronous motor on the front axle. The model delivers a maximum output power of 345 kW, a peak torque of 645 N·m, and a WLTP range of up to 900 kilometers.
