According to media reports, BYD and Geely have made it to the final shortlist for the acquisition of the Nissan-Mercedes-Benz plant in Mexico. Insiders revealed that against the backdrop of factory closures and rising layoffs in Mexico caused by US tariffs, Chinese automakers are seeking to establish a new manufacturing foothold in the country. It is reported that a total of nine companies have expressed their intention to acquire the plant, including Chinese automakers Chery and Great Wall, as well as Vietnamese new energy vehicle maker VinFast.
