Mercedes-Benz Small G to Offer Fuel and Electric Versions, Matching G-Class in Off-Road Performance
The Mercedes-Benz Small G will be available in both fuel and electric versions, a response to the launch of the Defender Sport Edition, and is set to hit the market in 2027. Initially developed as a pure electric model based on the MMA platform, the Small G will now also have a fuel version due to the underwhelming sales of the all-electric G-Class and subsequent strategic adjustments. Mercedes-Benz will continue to sell fuel-powered vehicles for a long time in the 2030s, and its full electrification plan has been put on hold for the time being.

It is reported that the fuel version of the Small G will be equipped with the same 1.5T turbocharged four-cylinder engine as the Mercedes-Benz CLA, matched with a hybrid system designed and developed by Mercedes-Benz and produced by Geely in China, with a combined power of 188 horsepower. The pure electric version features an 800V architecture and front and rear dual motors, with a driving range of 724km under WLTP conditions.
