The latest industry data shows that the total production capacity of Chinese automakers in Thailand has exceeded 600,000 units, covering new energy and multi-power models. Most factories have reserved expansion space, forming a production scale far exceeding the needs of the local market. Among them, SAIC Motor's Thailand base has a capacity of 200,000 units, with a supporting battery factory to ensure supply; BYD's Thailand factory has a capacity of 150,000 units, with cumulative output exceeding 55,000 units since its launch in July 2024; coupled with the layouts of Great Wall Motors, GAC AION, and other enterprises, Thailand has become a core hub for Chinese automobiles' "global manufacturing and overseas sales".

Thailand's government policy support has further strengthened this advantage: the revised EV3.5 policy allows exported electric vehicles to be counted as 1.5 units in local production quotas, helping enterprises obtain subsidies. This "local production + global export" model has achieved remarkable results. BYD has exported over 900 vehicles from Thailand to Europe, and brands such as MG and Chery have followed suit. Sun Xiaohong from the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Machinery and Electronic Products pointed out that Thailand's geographical advantages and industrial foundation, combined with automakers' global scheduling capabilities, make it a key node to avoid trade barriers and shorten delivery cycles. In the future, more automakers will use Thailand as a gateway to radiate markets such as Europe, Australia, and New Zealand.
