According to media reports, Germany's 3 billion euro (approximately 3.5 billion US dollars) subsidy program to boost electric vehicle (EV) sales will be open to all manufacturers, including Chinese brands. The initiative aims to promote EV popularization and reverse the sharp decline in demand in Europe's largest automotive market following the expiration of previous subsidies at the end of last year.

The new subsidy program will run until 2029, expected to support the purchase of around 800,000 EVs. Subsidies range from 1,500 to 6,000 euros depending on the vehicle model and the buyer's income level, focusing on low- and middle-income groups. Karsten Schneider, Minister of the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection (BMU), stated at a press conference on January 19th: "Currently, there is no data or practical observation indicating a large-scale influx of Chinese automakers into the German market, which is why we choose not to impose origin restrictions and maintain open market competition."
