Uber Partners with Baidu to Launch Autonomous Taxi Pilot in UK in 2026
Recently, sources reported that global renowned mobility platform Uber Technologies will reach an in-depth cooperation with Chinese technology company Baidu to launch an autonomous taxi pilot project in the UK, following in the footsteps of US autonomous driving technology company Waymo, which officially launched a similar test project in London this month. Uber officially stated that it plans to take the lead in launching the pilot project of Baidu Apollo GoRT6 autonomous taxis in London in the first half of 2026, and will optimize the operation plan according to the test results later.

Baidu Apollo GoRT6 has accumulated rich operational experience in multiple markets with its mature autonomous driving technology and high-safety system design. This cooperation with Uber to enter the UK market is expected to accelerate the development of the local intelligent mobility industry.
