New-Gen BMW iX3 Debuts Full Lifecycle Healthy Cabin System
At the 2026 BMW China Innovation Day, BMW presented for the first time its full healthy cabin achievements for new-generation models. Unlike many brands that treat cabin health as a standalone feature, BMW has built a complete system covering upstream material control, a three-level validation framework and intelligent air management. It has elevated cabin health from a single configuration to a development philosophy running through the entire product lifecycle, with the new-generation BMW iX3 as the first production implementation.

The event invited domestic media to visit the odor lab at BMW’s Shenyang R&D Center, where they experienced odor differences across material samples and spoke with engineers from BMW’s well-known “Nose Team”. Behind the invisible work of odor control and material safety lies more than 25 years of continuous investment from BMW. From source control to end-user perception, BMW has turned the healthy cabin into a complete, verifiable and fully implementable system.
