Under WLTP testing, the new XC60 PHEV reaches 200 km of pure‑electric range while the XC90 hits 164 km, enabling all‑electric commuting in daily scenarios. They keep the proven powertrain pairing a 2.0‑litre four‑cylinder engine with a rear‑axle motor and an 8‑speed automatic gearbox for hybrid four‑wheel drive. B5 mild‑hybrid options remain available.

For the XC60, buyers can choose T6 or T8 PHEV setups. The T6 produces 132 kW with a 5.7‑second 0‑100 km/h time; the higher‑output T8 generates 184 kW, accelerating to 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds with 189 km EV range. The XC90 is offered only as a T8, hitting 100 km/h in 5.2 seconds and delivering 164 km EV range. Both are electronically limited to 180 km/h. The XC60 achieves roughly 1 240 km total range with full fuel and battery, versus 1 100 km for the XC90. Note that they only support three‑phase AC charging for a four‑hour full charge, with no DC fast‑charging capability.
