On August 3, SAIC Volkswagen officially announced that the first pure electric model of its ID.ERA family will soon make its debut, further expanding the ID.ERA product matrix. Judging from the released teaser images, the new car carries on the family’s iconic design language, with a full-width LED light strip at the front fascia and an illuminated Volkswagen logo. Its overall styling is concise and grand, retaining the signature light interaction design for high visual recognition, staying true to Volkswagen’s well-structured design philosophy.

Intelligent driving stands as the core highlight of this model. It is equipped with the Xingyun intelligent driving assistance system, co-developed by SAIC Volkswagen and Momenta. The system adopts a reinforcement learning-based physical AI world model and has undergone deep calibration specifically for complex road conditions in China. On the hardware front, it is fitted with lidar to build a multi-sensor fusion perception matrix, which can accurately identify diverse targets including pedestrians, non-motor vehicles, construction obstacles and intersection traffic, demonstrating Volkswagen’s solid efforts in localized intelligent driving.
