A major production milestone has been hit at BMW’s Debrecen plant with the completion of the 50,000th next-generation iX3. As the first mass-produced model built on BMW’s Neue Klasse platform, the vehicle hit the 50,000-unit production mark merely nine months after entering full production, outperforming industry forecasts for production ramp-up speed. The rapid output growth stems from the plant’s early switch to double-shift operations starting February 2026, which accelerated volume expansion. Running at full capacity, the Debrecen facility boasts an annual output of 150,000 vehicles, with further production potential yet to be unlocked.

BMW stated that the production experience gained at Debrecen will serve as a standardized template for vehicle launches across all global manufacturing sites. Under the brand’s plan, BMW will roll out 40 all-new or facelifted models by the end of 2027, prioritizing efficient market launches, accelerated production and consistent product quality for all new vehicles. The plant will soon welcome its second mass-produced model, while the iX3’s global production footprint will continue to expand. Beyond Hungary and China, manufacturing will commence at the San Luis Potosí plant in Mexico in 2027, where the iX3 will share the assembly line with the 2 Series Coupe and 3 Series Sedan.
