Marking the 140th anniversary of Mercedes-Benz’s invention of the automobile and the 105th anniversary of Maybach vehicles, the new generation Mercedes-Maybach GLS SUV made its global debut on July 21. The new model features a redesigned front fascia, while the interior carries over the triple-screen MBUX hyperscreen setup from the standard GLS, preloaded with the latest in-car infotainment system, delivering the signature luxury experience expected of a Maybach.

The core upgrades lie in powertrain and intelligent features. Under the hood, the updated M177 EVO V8 engine paired with an ISG intelligent motor delivers performance on par with the previous 12-cylinder engine. On the intelligence front, the new urban and highway navigation-assisted driving system enables full "parking lot to parking lot" automated driving in China. A new rear-seat entertainment system, led by Mercedes’ China R&D team and powered by an on-device multimodal large language model, provides proactive, context-aware services without wake-up commands, elevating premium rear-seat experience to a new level.
