Chery and HBIS Jointly Develop 2400MPa Hot-Formed Steel, Securing Milestone Breakthrough
Recently, Chery Group announced that Chery Automobile, in collaboration with HBIS Group, has officially launched the jointly developed ultra-high strength and toughness 2400MPa hot-formed steel for automotive use. This breakthrough achievement has driven a crucial leap in China’s automotive materials in the ultra-high strength segment.

As a key cornerstone for automotive safety and lightweighting, hot-formed steel is widely used in core load-bearing and anti-collision structures such as A/B pillars, door anti-collision beams, door rings and floor cross members. For a long time, the mainstream strength range of such materials in the industry has been mainly between 1300–1800MPa. The 2400MPa-grade hot-formed steel jointly developed by Chery and HBIS has greatly improved material strength while maintaining forming performance and processing stability, achieving a remarkable leap over the industry’s mainstream level.
