Details emerge for the performance variant of the next-generation BMW X5 lineup: the X5 M60 will launch in 2027, retaining a 4.4L twin-turbo V8 engine rated at 448kW maximum power and 800 N·m peak torque, upholding BMW M’s legacy of high-performance combustion powertrains. The all-new BMW X5 premiered July 1 with fully updated exterior and interior designs, offering the broadest powertrain portfolio in BMW history: gasoline, diesel, plug-in hybrid, pure electric and hydrogen fuel cell options.

The all-electric iX5 60 features dual-motor electric xDrive all-wheel drive with a 183kW front motor and 242kW rear motor, delivering a combined 425kW system output and 0–100km/h acceleration in 4.6 seconds. It is fitted with a 140kWh 46120 large cylindrical battery, delivering up to 845km WLTP range and a peak DC charging power of 460kW, recharging from 10% to 80% state of charge in just 22–23 minutes. The long-wheelbase domestic Chinese variant will launch in Q4 2026 and commence deliveries in Q1 2027.
